JKTech is a world renowned company in the minerals' industry that is dedicated towards improving the productivity and profitability of mining and mineral processing operations. It is at the forefront of mining and mineral processing improvement technologies. Based in the western suburbs of Brisbane, JKTech is the technology transfer vehicle for the Sustainable Minerals Institute (SMI), a world renowned research and postgraduate teaching centre, within the University of Queensland.
We currently have several positions available for Laboratory Technicians. The Laboratory Technicians are responsible for conducting metallurgical and geometallurgical testing (eg comminution, leaching and flotation) for global mining clients using the latest cutting edge minerals industry characterization technology. The role is also responsible for ensuring that the data is reported in a high quality, professional and timely manner.
We are seeking candidates who possess experience in a similar role or have industry experience, possess knowledge of geology or mineral processing laboratory procedures and practices, have experience in appropriate handling and maintenance of laboratory equipment and have experience with data acquisition and analysis procedures. Additionally, the ideal candidate will need to demonstrate a strong capability in effectively using spreadsheets, word processing, databases and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). It is essential that candidates possess or have the ability to obtain a Fork Lift licence. Relevant industry qualifications and a driver’s licence will also be highly regarded.
It is essential that the ideal candidate can demonstrate the ability to follow safe work practices at all times, work collaboratively with others, meet deadlines, be familiar with working with laboratory equipment and possess strong organizational skills along with effective interpersonal and customer relations skills.
There is an emphasis on working both autonomously and collaboratively within a small team based environment and culture and ensuring that both internal and external customers receive a positive and efficient experience.
