Job Description
Overall Responsibility:
The primary function of the Laboratories is to provide testing services to ArcelorMittal Dofasco Business Units for process control and product certification.

Accountabilities:
A variety of materials are tested at the Laboratories including iron, steel, and slag. Analytical techniques employed include X-ray fluorescence, optical emission (OES), LECO elemental analysis, Tensile Test and Rockwell Hardness.
Under the direction of experienced laboratory personnel, the selected candidates will be responsible to conduct sample preparation and material analysis using methods and procedures designed to meet the laboratories quality assurance program needs, based on the requirements of TS16949 and ISO17025. The positions involve working in a Team environment, on a 12 hour rotating shift schedule providing 24x7 coverage.
Desired Skills & Experience
Skills & Knowledge:
1. Good interpersonal and communication skills are required.
2. Basic understanding of Chemical and Mechanical testing is required.
3. Basic Quality Systems knowledge (control charts, lab accreditation) is an asset.
4. Basic knowledge of Manufacturing Processes is an asset.
5. Computer and corporate software application skills.
Education & Experience:
- Science or Chemistry related College level program. (i.e. Material, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering Technology or Technologist)
- Related Co-op placements or 1 year of job-related experience is beneficial.
