Skills : A degree in metallurgy is preferred and a post graduate qualification in metallurgy or welding is desirable

Between 7 and 13 years of experience with material selection and corrosion engineering in the oil and gas industry. Knowledgeable about subsurface and surface oil field facilities and process

Awareness of mechanical, process and pipeline engineering discipline skills. Skilled in material selection (particularly metallic materials, and non-metallic materials), corrosion principles, metallurgy and welding, corrosion protection, corrosion management.

Knowledge of risk based inspection and of Shell standards is also desirable. Sound appreciation and judgement on- economical aspects as well limitations in the local working environment.

Description : Responsibilities:-

Responsible for cost effective material selection of PDO engineering projects during the design phase.

To act as a metallic materials specialist within the FEED team and provide advice on metallic
materials to project teams and operations.

To ensure that material selection and corrosion mitigation strategies will enable to maintain
technical integrity during the life cycle of oil and gas facilities.

Ensure that HSE matters are given due consideration in the selection of materials and the corrosion mitigation strategy.

Ensure materials are selected in line with PDO/international/Shell standards and specifications.
Ensure a proper economic evaluation of material/process options.

Ensure that the background of the material selection and corrosion mitigation strategy is understood and accepted by other disciplines and property documented for future reference
