Metallurgy Vacation Student

Fortescue Metals Group is the world's fourth largest iron ore producer. Our two mines, 300km railway and deepwater, multi-user port are located in the heart of the Pilbara - the world's best address for iron ore. We've produced and exported more than 100 million tonnes of iron ore in less than three years but we're not stopping there.
In 2011, Fortescue is kicking off a transformative expansion program to triple our production to 155mtpa over the next three years. Our expansion plans involve growth at our port and rail operations, upgrades of our existing mines and the creation of a new mine called the Solomon Hub.
The Fortescue Vacation Program offers students meaningful work in their chosen field.
Metallurgy Vacation Student Placements are available for a minimum of six weeks, commencing in late November. Positions are available at site locations (FIFO) and in our Perth Office.
During your time as a Vacation Student, your performance and potential will be assessed by Fortescue to ascertain suitability for future Graduate roles.
Fortescue is built on the determination, enthusiasm and integrity of our people and having a positive attitude and the confidence and willingness to 'have a go' are personal attributes we applaud.
Applications are welcomed from those students who have successfully completed the requirements of at least one full time year of a Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering undergraduate degree by December 2011; have a genuine desire to work in the resources sector; thrive in a team environment.
Fortescue is committed to working closely with local and indigenous communities. We welcome suitably qualified applicants from the Pilbara region, Indigenous Australians and those with links to the Fortescue Family.
Selection processes will be conducted in July/August, and appointments will be made in September for commencement in late November.
